Just firewood

“Aesthetics are not enough for me. The work needs to be able to echo and reverberate the cry I carry in my chest.”

Frans Krajcberg

My path as a sculptor began with indignation.

I was in Gravatá, Pernambuco, during a barbecue when I noticed that they were using scraps of Amazonian wood as firewood. I soon found out that, as it is a furniture hub, tons of wood went into the ovens of the city's bakeries and pizzerias.

This happened ten years ago, and it still seems absurd and unacceptable to me.

If trees could choose, they’d bear weapons instead of fruit.

A symbolic answer to the ancient violence inflicted upon Nature,
thus are born the Forest Blades.
